Quinn and Qristina Bachand

(Leahy Music Camp 2016)

Qristina and Quinn Bachand coming back to Camp!

The Bachands are back!

Qristina and Quinn Bachand are returning to Camp this summer and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

Born on Canada’s West Coast with its signature embrace of experimentation, Qristina & Quinn Bachand have developed their own ‘voice’ while exploring various musical traditions: Old-time, Celtic, Folk, and Jazz.  Fusing all of these styles, they have created a sound that is all their own.

Quinn Bachand is recognized as one of Canada’s top Celtic guitarists.  He has toured with many artists including his own sister, Qristina.  Together, they have proven to be quintessential to Canada’s contribution to the world stage of music.  They’ve garnered a mantle-packing collection of awards and recognition;  their latest CD, “Little Hinges” received a nomination at the  2015 Western Canadian Music Awards for Roots Recording of the Year.  The duo also won 2010 Top Traditional Group and 2011 Top Duo at the Irish Music Awards as well as a combined total of eight nominations at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.  At the moment, they are both pursuing their love of music through schooling – while Qristina is currently studying at the Irish World Academy in Limerick Ireland (doing a Masters of Traditional Irish Music Performance), Quinn is following his muse at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston.  He was one of the few people to secure the coveted Slaight Family Scholarship and attend the famous school.

We look forward to having them with us again this summer and can’t wait for everyone at Camp to spend time with them too!
