Rules Guidelines

Rules and Conditions

You are invited to form or join a group with a minimum of two (2) people – no maximum.

You can only belong to one group.

Each group is expected to work up and perform one musical number of your choosing.

The length of your musical number cannot exceed 4 minutes.

You may include others who did not attend camp this year!

Submit your audio-visual performance piece by Thursday, August 6^th.

It will be the responsibility of each group to organize and schedule their own rehearsals.

Each performance will be judged on its musicality, arrangement, originality, creativity, and execution.

You are encouraged to be as creative as possible.

This challenge gives you an opportunity to play, create, write, arrange, produce, practice, and perform – and apply all the new technological skills you’re learning! As well, it will give you a chance to discover potential that you may never knew you had.

Leaving your comfort zone can lead to new discoveries about your skills and abilities in different areas.

We don’t know how far we can stretch until we’re in a situation where we have to. This challenge is designed to do exactly that – stretch yourself and help others to do the same.

This challenge will also give you the experience of playing in or with a group – feel the group dynamics and realize the many ways that people contribute in such a setting.

Helpful HInts

Experiment with different styles of music, sounds, traditions, and instruments. For example, dancing could be used as an instrument and/or a form of musical expression.

Remember that time can be your friend. Leave time to live with and listen back to your creations. Your tastes and ideas may change the more you listen them.

Get into the habit of recording your practice sessions. Listen back and you might hear something that you missed when you practicing or playing. Our ears works differently when listening vs playing, singing, or dancing.

Create a rough track or 'demo' of your ideas first. Demo's don't need to be perfect so try to manage your time recording well. Get your ideas out and down first, then worry about making them sound great for the final recording...after you have confirmed and practiced the part.

Where and How to send your Files

When you submit your video, please include the following information:

1. Name of Group

2. Individual names of each member and from where they come (City, Prov/State, Country)

3. The name/titles and writers of the music being played and performed in your video
